About DR hinz

Dr Hinz is a certified gynaecologist and obstetrician with 21 years of experience in private practice. Her qualifications include MD(Germany), MBChB, FCOG(SA), MMed (O&G). She is fluent in English and German.

Dr Hinz studied Medicine at the University of Essen in Germany. As a student she developed a keen interest in gynaecological Oncology and completed an MD thesis in a research setting.

Following her Internship at the University Hospital in Germany Dr Hinz decided to pursue her speciality training in the field of obstetrics and gynaecology. After four years of training in Germany she moved to South Africa in 1994 and completed her education as a specialist at the University of Cape Town. This was followed by a fellowship in gynaecological oncology at Groote Schuur Hospital and an MMed thesis in the same subspeciality. 

During this time Dr Hinz worked as a part time consultant at the Red Cross Children’s Hospital in the gynaecological clinic for children and adolescents. In 2001 Dr Hinz opened her private practice in Cape Town and she has been at Vincent Pallotti Hospital in Pinelands ever since.

Dr Hinz is part of the Gynaecological Oncology team at Vincent Pallotti Hospital and a member of both the South African and International Gynaecological Oncology Society. Further professional memberships include the South African as well as the German Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and the SA Menopause Society. Dr Hinz obtained a Bachelor Degree from the European Society for Gynaecological Endoscopy for minimal invasive hysteroscopic and laparoscopic surgery.
